Small Potatoes

So, my potatoes are small. I won't argue it. I mean, they're not always tiny. Sometimes we get a few regular sized ones. It's still nice to be able to dig a few up as early as June with no effort on my part at all except the initial "planting" or scattering them around. Who says they all have to grow in one spot? Someone using unnatural practices. Potatoes are one of the easiest "vegetables" to grow. You can cut them up or not. Plant them pretty much anywhere -- in a field, in a small patch, in a mulch pile, even in a garbage can. The key is giving them enough height as the more tubers that form, the more space they will need to grow. Once the leaves form above the soil line, it is important to add mulch or cover the stems up to the leaves with soil. Potatoes will grow in all types of soil, so don't fret if your soil is in poor condition. And regardless of their size, it is always nice to be able to say you grew them yourself.
